Hello-weeeeeeeeeen II
Picking up Asian Girls Matt approaching a girl: " Hi, my name is Matt, as in door mat...just better." Josh probably chased away half the girls by telling them strange things like being born in the North of Shanghai.... (obviously not)
Hello-weeeeeeeeeen
I really don't know what to say, I guess the pictures say it all. I have never seen such a loopy drunk person before. *ahem* It was a blast, I would do it all over again! And yes... it was an asian party.... but.... hmmm 2 kuai los sneaked in...

3 Asians Cooking for 2 Kuai Los
Pei Shyen, Dev and I made dinner at Dev's flat... ok "prepared" dinner. With Dev's treasure - a cupboard full of prepared marinades and spices from Malaysia, I think we did a more than decent job. Sambal veggies and prawns, chicken curry, grilled pangang chicken, stir-fried veggies and egg, ended well with longan and lychee!!! We invited Matt (the kuai lo who thinks he is Malaysian) and Josh (my hall tutor who is actually 11 days younger than me), and made them wash up after dinner. Yummy dinner and another narrow escape from hall food!

Pizza Picture from Week 1
Shyen just sent me this picture... made me think about when I first moved into Ancaster. This picture of Shyen, Rachel and myself was taken during Week One. We came down late for dinner so we had to order Domino's, and had our pizza in our hall bar. I've been in the UK for exactly 41 days. I'm not exactly sure how I'm feeling about the whole experience. At first I was very homesick... then things slowly got better. Now, I realise I might really miss the people I have met here, chances are, for most of them, I may never see them again....
A Pantry in My Room
Sainsbury's - my favourite place for groceries! 1)juice and milk 2)fruit - kiwis, plums, grapes 3)yogurt 4)crackers & grissini 5)black olives 5)salmon spread 6)marmite 7)miso soup mix 8)bicuits 9)chocolate 10)cereal Fresh Asia - local asian shop in Beeston 1)korean bowl noodle 2)kimchi 3)vita iced lemon tea
Thai Dinner
Went to Sukho Thai in Beeston for dinner. Food was lovely!!!! And I miss it already!!! This was Dev's (by the way is one of the hall tutors in Ancaster)recommendation and it really did not disappoint! 4 of us - Dev, Pei Shyen, Matt & I managed to escape yet another culinary experiment from our hall kitchen. Sukho Thai's signature is the "sliced duck marinated in non-spicy Thai herbs and soy sauce, served with chinese leaves". So it doesn't look THAT great in a picture.. and so what if presentation is not the best? IT WAS YUMMY!!!

Field Trip to Liverpool
A short few hours in Liverpool wasn't even enough to touch the surface. There was too much to see and do and the weather yesterday did not help. See Jia and I struggled to hold on to our brollies while the rain poured and the wind tried to invert them (which it did, several times). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to hold up my camera while trying to keep myself from potentially catching a cold. I ran through the Beatles Exhibition and only saw part of the collection at Tate Liverpool. At the TATE, I was really glad I managed to see one Edgar Degas, but beyond Dada and Surrealism, I could not help but wonder if there was a way to distinguish artistic talent and pure derangement. The highlight of the trip of course was the Corb Exhibition which was placed in the crypt of a Catholic Cathedral. In the exhibition, SJ and I found a highly amusing photograph of Le Corbusier and Albert Einstein... made me wonder what kind of conversations they shared... I think I need to go back to Liverpool...

Field Trip to London - South Bank
Dinner
Thanks Xin Ling and Kenneth for hosting a lovely dinner! Today, Russell, See Jia and I went to St Peter's Court for dinner at our fellow NUS Exchange mate's place. Their accommodation although out of school (quite near Steph's place) was awesome! WOW!!! Xin Ling makes amazing chicken! I hope we didn't make a big mess!
Lunch
Typical lunch at the Trent Building. See Jia and I always find the opportunity and time to sneak away for lunch at our favourite spot. Weather is getting a little chilly but it is still wonderful to overlook the lake. See Jia always orders the same thing... Ribena, a hot Panini and a chocolate muffin. By the way, she can never finish her muffin...and she insists on buying it still.... She always tells herself not to.... but when we are in the queue... she would reach for the tongs and neatly place a tempting chocolate muffin on her plate. |
