Peperoni Pizzeria

I was at Peperoni Pizzeria last week.
I love the place because they have the best pizzas
(my favourite is the Diavola).
Besides good food, the casual diner always has a small glass of wax crayons (non-toxic I hope) to encourage diners to doodle on their paper table liners. The walls are decorated with drawings, cartoons and doodles of diners of all ages and guess what??
One of the staff members handed me a pair of scissors and asked me to cut my drawing out so they can pin it up! One of my proudest moments... better than receiving prizes in school or receiving the highest bravery medal
(not that I ever got anything like that).
My greatest achievement yet....

Steve & Melissa's Wedding - The Reception I

The Wedding Entourage did such a good job with the flowers and decorations.
A couple of hours before the dinner, I visited the ballroom and saw more than 20 florists and technicians working tirelessly!!! The results was beyond what any of us expected.
Here's where you can find the photos taken by photographer - Andrew Choi.
Stever and Melissa's logo projected on the white backdrop.
This was my table where I sat next to the Maid of honour - My crazy cousin Melanie, Owen and my other second cousins like - Leonard and Natasha.

Dessert!! And a wonderful traditional wedding cake!

YUM SENG!

Steve & Melissa's Wedding - The Reception III

The dinner reception was held in Shangri-la Island Ballroom.
The venue was tranformed beyond recognition.
With white drapes that cocooned the large space into a intimate setting, white flowers and candles provided a backdrop that was beyond lavish.
The evening was truly magical.

A 16 piece Jazz Band played one one of the 2 stages in the ballroom.
Flower pieces were designed by David Tutera and wonderfully executed by local wedding planners - The Wedding Entourage.

The ballroom was just stunning, it was fun just to watch the expressions as guests walked into the ballroom after cocktails.

Steve & Melissa's Wedding - Traditional Tea Ceremony I

Melissa wore the Hanbok for the Tea Ceremony! Yes it is the perfect outfit for a buffet!!
Look at Steve's smile when receiving Ang Pow!!!
Did I mention to Steve that NOW he has to give me ang pow for Chinese New Year too?

Steve & Melissa's Wedding - The Ceremony I

22nd August 2009, my cousin, Melissa and her husband Steve finally had their wedding ceremony in Singapore after being legally married in the US last year. The ceremony took place in Kampng Kapor Methodist Church, followed by the traditional tea ceremony in the church hall.

Everyone seated just before the ceremony.
Wonderful bouquets lined the aisle.

Uncle Mike walking Melissa down the aisle.
He promised he wouldn't cry but Melanie thought she saw him tear up during the ceremony...
If he did... someone owes me 20 bucks...
Melissa's ornate gown was by Pnina Tornai.

With Owen & Hadassah, a friend I met through Melissa.

Melissa the Bride, with Angelique and Melanie.
This was at the dinner before we left for the party.
Melanie and I would both agree that we sat at the coolest table at the dinner!!!
Mel's speech was awesome too! *so proud of her sniff sniff*

This was when Angelique was VERY happy till she could hardly stand on her own!

Another Late Night Dinner

Last week, after a movie,
Owen and I had a little late night dinner at home...
He got some take out from Gastronomia,
He cooked some fillers and toasted wraps!
Dinner in front of the TV!
My favourite kind of dinners!

LADY GAGA

I just got back from the Lady Gaga concert. I am probably the furthest from a Lady Gaga fan but please excuse my ignorance, the only song I knew is Poker Face, from her one and only album which title I did not even know till just now.

I must say I did enjoy the show. Firstly, Owen chose a great spot in the body-packed Fort Canning, at the corner, next to the Botak Jones tent, a couple of feet from Mr. Jones himself grilling burgers!!

Secondly, Lady Gaga did put on a show! Her energetic performance was interjected with videos of her alter ego character - Candy Warhol. The videos featured strong visual elements related to the works of Warhol. The moving images were simply eye candy that seemed to come from a high fashion magazine (the haute couture crazy unwearables, not the Mark Jacobs ready-to-wears)... Honestly, I did not have the mental capability to decode her eccentricities but it was really entertaining!

The performance was crazy, Lady Gaga was totally crazy! Hearing her play the piano/keyboard was probably the most enjoyable part; seeing her play it was even more interesting as she contorted her body in which resembled yoga poses (difficult poses like Lord of the Dance pose and Warrior III pose) while she wildly banged Poker Face on the keys. Oh and I also must mention that for a tiny girl (from where I was watching the concert, she was really tiny, just about 3/4 of my little finger when I stretched my arm out) she was insanely energetic as she flicked her hair around like she was endorsing Head and Shoulders shampoo.

It was an experience. I am glad I went.
Thanks Owen!

PS: Unfortunately despite her many costume changes, she did not appear in her Kermit outfit (Sorry Jon)

Germs

I drew this more than a year ago...
make belief germs!

I have a probable case of H1N1 and was prescribed TAMIFLU. Unfortunately, Tamiflu has side effects that include: confusion, increased risk of self injury, nausea and vomiting, which explains the strange dream I had of being on a cruise with the Jonas Brothers! (how embarrassing...)

Those who have seen me in the last couple of days please be on a lookout for signs of the flu and visit the doctor if you experience any flu-like symptoms.
Watch out for MICROBES!

Cheers to a one week MC....
and I can't even use it!

Design -vs- Style

Image taken from http://www.iconicinteriors.co.uk/eamesloungechair.shtml

The Eames Lounge and Ottoman
has been such a design icon espcially when it made a regular appearance in the popular American sitcom - Fraiser.
If you can remember, the Eames lounge was strategically placed in Dr. Fraiser Crane's apartment, on a platform in the living room, perched next to a floor to ceiling window with the amazing backdrop of Seatle's skyline.
That was when I first learnt of
Charles and Ray Eames.

The video from TED, is a talk by their grandson, Demetrios. So many images from the presentation, juxtaposed to form wonderful visual compositions. And of course, eye candy...

Personal Pieces

Hadassah of Hadasity made these custom orders for me
using trinkets my mum gave me from her old wardrobe.
It's pretty amazing what she has come up with...
